With the kind permission of our A&S Mistress, and by request of several shire members, I will be teaching a class on drop spinning yarn/thread as part of our shire’s series of special interest classes. This will take place at 7 PM on December 4, 2013 during that evening’s fighter practice and informal A&S gathering at Church of the Comforter.
You do not need to come with any extra supplies for this class… but I encourage all who are interested and able to bring their own drop spindle from home. I will have some spare spindles available for use, but my stash is unfortunately limited in that regard. As the class date gets closer I will post some instructions on how to make one for yourself– one can be made for very little money in practically no time at all.
I will have plenty roving/prepared wool fiber on hand for use during the class, but the selection will be limited. With this in mind, please feel free to bring your own fiber from home should you have a preference. If you are attending the Sheep & Wool Festival in Rhinebeck next weekend, however, I encourage you to pick up something fun that you will truly enjoy spinning into thread/yarn. The prices tend to be quite good there, and you will never see a bigger selection of fiber options!
With all of this in mind, if you have any questions regarding the class, please feel free to contact me, either in person or via email at chancellorminor@nordenhal.eastkingdom.org. I am honored to have this opportunity to share my passion, and look forward to working with all of you.
