County Announces Nordenhal Demo at Persen House

ULSTER COUNTY CLERK NINA POSTUPACK WELCOMES THE SOCIETY FOR CREATIVE ANACHRONISM TO THE PERSEN HOUSE FOR “LIFE IN THE MIDDLE AGES”

Kingston, NY – Ulster County Clerk Nina Postupack is pleased to announce that on Saturday, September 23, the Society for Creative Anachronism, Shire of Nordenhal, will host at the Matthewis Persen House Museum located at 74 John Street in uptown Kingston, at the corner of John and Crown Streets.  Admission is free and all are welcome.

On Saturday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), Shire of Nordenhal, will host “Life in the Middle Ages” at the Persen House.  The SCA is an educational organization dedicated to reproducing and exploring the very best aspects of pre-17th century cultures.  Join members of the SCA’s Shire of Nordenhal for family-friendly activities and discussion on period clothing, calligraphy, fencing, archery and other countless activities of interest.  Medieval games, dancing, inkle-loom weaving and diverse arts will be demonstrated throughout the day.

“We are excited to have the SCA back at the Persen House this season,” said County Clerk Nina Postupack.  “They offer a fun, family-friendly way to learn about the people and events of the middle ages.  It is sure to be a day filled with entertaining and educational experiences!”

The Kingdom Seneschal has posted the following:

https://seneschal.eastkingdom.org/kingdom-pandemic-response/#RequestVariance

Currently both Dutchess and Ulster county rating is at Medium. If you are coming to our gathers from some other county, look up the risk level there.

Thank you for taking the time to look at the current response, and a big thanks to Magistra Audrye Beneyt our East Kingdom Seneschal.

From Sir Richard de Camville

Hello Everyone!

Was chatting with Blaze O’Rama today and we got to chatting about the possibility of an EQ type event. Given what I do for a living (Lucky Star Horsemanship) I have a couple of site options that we could get on a low budget. One is Lucky Star Stables located in Clinton Corners, NY. (Similar name but not affiliated) and the other is Hidden Hollow Farm in Milan, NY.

If anyone wants to come tour either location get an introduction to the owners/managers please let me know here, via a PM, via email at luckystarhorsemanship@gmail.com or call/text at 518-303-2504. .

Saturday October 22, 2022 I’ll be doing some training with our horses at Hidden Hollow Farm in Milan, NY. Will be there from 8:00-11:00 and then back later in the afternoon.

We will be leading a Horsemanship Clinic at the L.S. Stables location in Clinton Corners, NY on Sunday, October 23, 2022 at 10:00 am.

Both sites allow for a variety of event formats. My suggestion is to run a “Symposium” style event with classes and experiences for everyone. I’ve run a few of these in the past, plus mundane horse focused events like Equus Fest East and am very willing to help put.

Thoughts?
