This week marks one year of Youth Combat since we restarted post-COVID. It was March 2024 when a young man’s pestering finally got his mom to reach out and ask us to get on with it. We did.
Since then we have been hosting regular practices on Wednesday evenings from 5:00-6:00. We have been averaging eight youth fighters each practice.
Usually 2-4 Division 1s (6-9yo) and 4-6 Division 2s (10-13yo) battle it out. We do 1v1, melee, bear pit, and teams. We have weapons workshops every few months where the youths can build swords, shields, maces, axes, and armor from leather, PEX tubing, and closed cell foam (like pool noodles and pipe insulation).
Practice is free of charge and open to the public; we have loaner gear available.
We are always looking for adults to help marshal the activities.

This is wonderful! I know that we hear the tromping of the combatants downstairs during A&S and it always makes us smile. We are hearing the future of our shire!
